| Peter M. Hecht has served as our chief executive officer since our founding in 1998. Prior to founding Ironwood, Dr. Hecht was a research fellow at Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. Dr. Hecht serves on the boards of directors of Whitehead Institute and Microbia, Inc., our majority-owned subsidiary. He also serves on the Leadership Council for The David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Hecht earned a B.S. in mathematics and an M.S. in biology from Stanford University, and holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of California at Berkeley. |
