| John Talley serves as Ironwood's senior vice president of drug discovery and has led the Company's discovery efforts since joining Ironwood in January 2002. Talley distinguished himself as an accomplished drug hunter while serving as a senior research fellow at Monsanto/Searle, where he was the lead inventor of several products in the company's arthritis disease franchise including Celebrex®, Bextra®, and Dynastat®. He also played a key role in the discovery of several protease inhibitor compounds for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. He has received numerous awards for his discoveries, including the prestigious PhRMA Discoverers Award in 2002 for the discovery of Celebrex, and is named as an inventor on over 200 U.S. patents. Talley earned a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa and holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Minnesota. |
