| Michael Higgins serves as Ironwood's chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Ironwood in 2003, Higgins held a variety of senior business positions at Genzyme Corporation, including vice president of corporate finance, where he played a leading role in mergers and acquisitions valued at more than $1.5 billion and equity financings that raised in excess of $500 million. Higgins also managed Genzyme's strategic planning process and oversaw the financial operations for all of Genzyme's business units. Higgins earned a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. He serves on the board of directors of Microbia Precision Engineering, Inc. |
